This project evolved while playing with some small pieces of wood and enjoying the overlapping effect of the wood. That led to a few sketches which led to further computer dimensioning.
The main basswood frame joinery is a half-lap joint with dowels also going through from top to bottom for additional strength. 3 jigs (3 different widths at 1/4” height) provided uniform pieces of the mahogany and wenge which overlap the perimeter with birch dowels holding them to the basswood frame. The dowel boring of the mahogany and wenge pieces, and the base basswood frame below had no room for error.
Brackets for hanging vertical or horizontal included.
